Texas Jack: Brimley, TX

Lies, Lust, Corruption, Murder

A Western Adventure: Texas Jack Book 10

Joshua Brimley went to Texas just prior to the end of the Civil War. He was a tough, hard man willing to fight and take land. He pushed out the Indians and fought off bandits to build his Empire Ranch. He rounded up stray cattle and any other cattle he found, branded or not. If they were on his ranch, they were his cattle. The Empire Ranch was vast and before long he had established a town bearing his name. Joshua didn’t care which way the war ended because he would still have his land.

His son, Rex Brimley, was a weak-minded man who had less interest in ranch work and more interest in drinking, gambling and chasing women. He felt entitled and he could do anything he pleased without conscience. A liaison with a local prostitute leads to her death and Rex was known to be the last man with her causing an investigation by the Sheriff William Long. Shortly afterwards, the Sheriff is killed, and Rex Brimley is suspected but no one believes he will ever pay for his crimes.

When Tommy Vee, the former Sheriff of Filo, TX receives a letter from no other than President Ulysses S. Grant asking him to become a U. S. Marshall and investigate the murder of their mutual friend, he can’t refuse. He asks his friend, Jack McKenna, ‘Texas Jack’, to help him and they head off to Brimley, TX… straight into lies, lust, corruption and murder.
