The Gold Disc Of The Mayans

The Gold Disc Of The Mayans

In 1542 Spanish conquistadors led by El Mozo began their final conquest of the Mayans in the Yucatan area of what is now Mexico. The Mayan king knew the end was near and gave his son the assignment to hide their most sacred object before it would fall into the hands of the Spanish. The object was a golden disc with a pure quartz stone in the middle and was said to be a gift from the Gods. The disc was kept in a box made of jade and the young prince was instructed to hide in a place where it could not be found. It should remain hidden until such time when the Mayans could rise up again against their Spanish oppressors.

The young prince hid the golden disc, but the Mayans never recovered it, and it remained hidden until 1839 when Lloyd Stevens led an expedition into the Yucatan. A young man working for Lloyd had a dream and was led to the jade box containing the golden disc however he didn’t turn it over to the expedition leader after having a premonition not to do so.

The disc was once again lost until it turned up again in 1945 just after World War Two ended. This time it was given to a United States Air Force officer by a mysterious man. It remained in the possession of the U.S. Air Force until it was stolen.

Nick Roberts, a modern-day pirate and smuggler, is contacted and asked to find the mysterious golden disc and return it to the Air Force, but the assignment is shrouded in mystery. He is asked to take the assignment for a reason. Nick is not aware of his link to the theft of the disc, the dangers involved or who else is also searching for it until he takes the assignment.

The pirates are back. Welcome back to Lizard Key and another adventure.
