Texas Jack Book 9

Texas Jack: Ride into Hell

A Western Adventure: Texas Jack Book 9

When Jack McKenna, Texas Jack, first met Grady Jones, he was a quiet family man with a wife and daughter. He fought in the Civil War on the Union side and after the war he became bitter and disillusioned. His marriage changed all that and he renounced violence and became Preacher Jones, a peaceful man of God.

When a group of outlaws kidnapped his wife and daughter intent on selling them in Mexico, they died in the process (see Texas Jack novel #7, Preacher Jones, Frontier Avenger). Texas Jack helped him track down the outlaws and at that point he became Preacher Jones, bounty hunter.

During the years that followed, Preacher Jones became a name feared by outlaws. The preacher had become, as he put it, God’s avenger of evil on earth. He had only one requirement on the outlaws he hunted. They had to be ‘wanted dead or alive’. Preacher Jones never brought in any of them alive. If they had killed, he believed in the ‘eye for an eye’ doctrine in dispensing God’s justice. Very few knew what he looked like. Like a ghost, he would show up in a town with a dead outlaw draped over a saddle, collect his bounty and disappear.

It had been several years since Jack had seen the preacher but one day he showed up, on the hunt for some killers with a favor to ask. A favor that would lead them on a ride into hell.
